Matches were cancelled late in the afternoon due to rain. The day started on an ominous note when top seed Benjamin Becker (GER) defaulted his match to Jack Sock (USA) due to an injury. Rhyne Williams (USA) defeated Izak Van Der Merwe (RSA), 6-2, 6-3 and Mischa Sverev got past Rik De Voest (RSA), 6-2, 6-3. The final singles match of the day with James Blake (USA) and Daniel Kosakowski (USA) was postponed until tomorrow morning at 11:00 am. The winner of that match will return late in the afternoon play De Voest.
